Lucid dreams - it is the dreams where you know that you are sleeping and seeing a dream? I had such several times very long ago, spontaneously. It was fun, I could fly! :D

I get lucid dreams quite frequently. I recall having one the other night and it was very vivid. I was inside the room of my old old home and I couldn't escape my dream. I was trying to wake myself up by pinching my arms but they were all numb due to dream state.

and in my case it was a nightmare once too, I was pursued by zombies, but as soon as I understood I am dreaming and my capacities are endless I easily left that area and went flying on above the trees in the sun...
That's why I loved it so much...

yeah, I have lucid dreams once a while as well, I usually try to have conversations in my dreams then ... somehow they sometimes lead me to answers on my doubts and lead me the way to some extent.

But I also had the nighmare version, where you know you're dreaming yet somehow can't stop the dream and come to some point where you forget whether it's a dream or not that was more when I was younger, but I remember I was really scared as it was with animals being killed on my wall and such and I wanted to help them out but I couldn't ...or like a killer standing next to my bed trying to kill me, I remember that one very vividly up to today... and I was so assured at that time that the dream was real...brrr...still shaking when remembering.

When talking about dreams, I remember having read that some people have the so called lameness in their sleep, a part between wake and sleep where your muscles are completely frozen (like they are when you're in the rapid eye movement part of the sleep) and you nonetheless keep on dreaming but like in your own room ... so the mixture of reality and dream ... must be scary I think.  (my nightmares above weren't this way by the way, it was always in sleeping context, I knew that I was dreaming but in the dream I started doubting whether it was really a dream or not) To are somehow aware you're dreaming want to get out but at the same time see/feel how your body is motionless...

yeah, you were lucky then to be able to change the dream you had. i can't do it, no matter how strongly aware i am that it's just a dream, it's simply too strong for me and my conscious. i always fought with a demon in such a dream, and that demon lived in me and controled everything i was doing, even my intentions to change the dream and to wake up   :?   i remember, i had several longer periods of lucid dreams night after night, and in the end i was proper enough for a mental hospital   :?   those dreams ate all my energy and will for life and i trully don't wanna have any ever again ...

it IS scary. those were the ones i had most often and i still start shaking when i remember them. you know you're dreaming, you know you're lying in your bed, the very same bed you have in your dreams too; you're seeing a nightmare, usually [that was at least with me] i felt some hands around my neck, choking me and trying to turn my head for 360 degrees, it succeeded, i felt no pain, just heard my bones breaking; heard the mean laughter of a demon and it's voice ...  :?  :?   there was also a horrible loud "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" in my ears, and when i woke up, my entire body was aching. however, you must go through this yourself to know what i'm talking about as this can't be discribed with words.

what i heard about lucid dreams, is that some people are trying to have them on purpose, they often fail and then they have consequences when they are awake ...   :?  :?

I've read about certain groups of people who try to achieve perfect harmony in their lives. No guilts, debts, lies, etc. With this peaceful state of mind, they will try to meditate out of their bodies or perhaps control more of their lucid dreaming. Although, I have also read stories on negative consequences trying to do that.

dreaming is and I enclose Freud's opinions on that a psychological matter... and everyone knows that little has to go wrong in the valuable structures of the psyche to break... I read work about him on dreams and one thing I'll never forget is that he stated that people got mad (mental ill) because of dreams they had...because they got stuck in it somehow...and he explained this as a fact by giving that the dream you had (whether you remember it or not) often has an influence on how you feel when you wake up... positive when it was a positive dream and negative when it was a negative one. He didn't offer a solution to it but I think it's wise to interfere as little as possible with those quite natural processes in the brain. But nonetheless you should try to keep in front of you when you're having nightmares (no matter how real they may seem to you) that they're "just" dreams ... I know what fear with/in nighmares is (and I think most people do know what you just tried to describe Klodi, only in other versions, their own psyche created and in its own strenght according to your own personality i.e. how vulnerable you are for fear...their are people who fear really nothing) ... so don't feel attacked by my utterance ... I know that some dreams have an immense impact on your psyche in and even months after the dream took place but exactly THEREFORE you should keep in mind that it was "just" a dream and that it has nothing to do with reality ... that is also the reason why I mostly try to get what my dream (no matter how ugly it was) tries to tell me about the state of my psyche, what it's occupied with unconsciously. I think only in that way we can even in the dream keep ourselves aware that we're dreaming and will wake up healthy again afterwards...instead of fleeing in fear I think might work viceversa and lead you deeper in the fear... I'll never forget what my grandmother told me (yeah, yeah, me and my grandmother ;)) "fear not, for only that's how fears become real" or "be strong no matter how much you fear, only in that way you can protect yourself to the negative, in case it really exists" ... I hold to it, because I know I overcame a lot of my nightmares this way... but everyone finds its own way I think to deal with bad dreams. I just strongly believe that thoughts have and emotions stand in a balance when you get control over your thoughts I think automatically also over your feelings...but let that be my little naivity ;)
