Title: Pray for Venezuela
Post by: Fernanda Alves on February 16, 2014, 07:09:25
Sorry for the big post!

I don't know if you, guys, have news about Venezuela.
It looks like Venezuela is coming to a Civil War.

Venezuela is under the Bolivarian Revolution. This is not good.
As far as I know, the Bolivarian Revolution is something like a new Comunism. But it's a crooked Comunism.
It's a system, initialized in Chavez government and continued by Maduro.

Here in Brazil, we don't have many news about it. This scares me, since our Government has some kind of "close relationship" with Venezuela. Dilma Rousseff is from the left side like Chavez, and, in my opinion, Lula's puppet. I'm afraid of being some steps behind of Venezuela.

Returning to Venezuela, it's sad to see the Government using the Army, battle tanks and lethal weapons to repress people. There are people dying. All they are fighting for is a good condition of life, since they even can't find toilet paper! They think they can achieve it putting their "president" down.

It's hard to find some news about it, because Venezuela lives under a dictatorship (not assumed) and there's not Press' Liberty. The Government closes opposite channels and allows only those who choose to support the Government. Once I heard about French journalists who had their equipment broken by the Army for recording some "bad things".

I know we can't help too much, but pray for them, for the dead's souls. It's not easy. They are fighting to change a cruel reality and being murdered for it. And this is not in the news.

Fernanda, thank you for speaking out your concern, without your post I wouldn't have learned about it... And I think knowing such things is important. This all is really sad. I'm reading it from the Guardian coverage, and I really don't like what I read. I have a sinking feeling that it's a chain of worldwide events, because Venezuela is by no means the first in this line, and I really pray it won't touch your country. It is terrible to read about people killed and suffering. And shortage of media coverage, and this also seems to be a looming trend... What lack of governmental concern for its own people leads the people to!  :'(

It's weird how the media is hiding informations from Venezuela here, but Ukraine news are always atualized.

I'm from Brazil and here, we have more news about Ukraine than about our Neighbor. It's because our Government has the same ideologies. There's a video where Lula (he is leading us through Rousseff) is supporting Maduro to be elected!
I believe we're going to the same way. I studied about the decisions which made Venezuela go so down. Unfortunately, it's the same things that Brazilian Government is doing. Our government is supporting Cuba so hard, forgiving African bills. I'm not against helping other nations but if we don't pay our taxes, we won't be forgiven as they are.

I hope not opening a thread about my country.

I don't really think this is the right place to talk about this and I don't really think you are in the right to say the Bolivarian Revolution is a 'new comunism' or Maduro is a dictator. Is not like I prefer to close my eyes and do not see what is happening there, but there will always be two sides, even inside in the heart of Venezuela.

But ok, I wont say no more.

I'm really sorry, Mozz, but I just have that internal mmmm disagreement with any sentence starting from " I don't really think you are in the right to say". For one thing, everybody is free to speak out her or his mind, for the other, this is offtop, so basically "everything". And - no - there's not always two sides of everything. For a killed person it is only one. Way. To. Heaven. But here I completely withdraw from judging anything but actions that led to deaths.

And no, I'm not going to incite any quarrel or make a trouble ;) Just my humble opinion.

Right, wrong word. She's free to speak whatever she wants, not to affirm! At least I still don't know anyone who is the owner of the truth.

You seem a very wise person WalkAbout :). I was listen to ´Die Strasse der Zeit´ in my prayer today.
