Hope you find this as another way of escaping reality or just to kill time  8)
You just have to put in here quotes from your own... if you want to share a quote from someone else, you can also write it in here  ;)
EDIT: You can also write in here whatever the fuck you want... ;)

I'll start with one I wrote like 2 months ago...

well, I can remember 3 of mine which were remarked by my friends:

December 31st, morning, in Novgorod: "while the rest of Russia is still chopping salads, we are already having hangover "

Cold winter 2010: "Sinners, welcome to St.-Pete, the Hell is definitely frozen here"

Standing in the middle of a snow desert on one of the city edges, in search of my friend's house, calling her: "- Kate, where am I??? - I don't know!!!" as if I expected the other reply )))

i posted these in a laughter chamber already, but if you want more, you have them here, all from same teacher   ;)    [and i just noticed it weren't pandas, but koalas living on page 56     ]

- "Slovenia is the most green part of Finland"
- [there's an island on some lake and on this island a church is standing] "so they have built a castle or church or whatever that house is ..."
- "PUT DOWN your chewing gum which you are holding in your mouth" [instead of throw it away]
- "i'll throw you through the window so you won't have to walk through the door"
- on Katrina hurricane: "material damage of HUMANITY! was enormous" and then as an ending of that wise explanation, she added "yeah, there were many human lives" [instead of dead people. it doesn't sound that funny in english]
- "the sun is flying high"
- "so those, how they call them cigars Havanas... " someone asks her if they are not called "Cuban cigar" and she said "no. they are made in Cuba, therefor they owe the name of the country" and with proud eyes she added "cigar Havan"
- she wrote B instead of T. some girl told her to correct it, but teacher replied that she can go and correct it herself. when she stood up to do so, teacher told her to sit down, because "in this case it's written with T" [not to mention that word doesn't even exist...]
- "side continent... Australia"
- someone asks her where are we going for an excursion and she replied "there" [yeap, now we know everything ]
- "koalas are living on page 56"
- "Africa is the biggest African continent"
- "floods caused many human lives" [same as with hurricane]
- a girl asked her if she can go to toilet... our teacher's answer? "no, you've been there yesterday already"
- "Belgium as a continent"
- "Tina, what's your name?"
- [about the movie 'Australia'] "yeah well.. it's not a good movie, but not bad either... it's a very good movie, yeah"
- "in China people are allowed to have only ONE FIRST child" [hell, how many times in your life can you have a first child?]
- once she used singular, dual and plural in ONE SENTENCE!! about the same thing. can't translate it as it loses the meaning
- "Niagara waterfalls are very wild and are causing drizzling" (:
- "Victoria waterfalls are VERY NATURAL!"
- "China is rich with eucalyptus. that's what makes koala! an indigenous animal of Chinese"

It´s one of my favorites, the ending part of the poem "Ulysses" by Alfred Tennyson.

"Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Everytime I´m in a tough situation I remeber these words, mainly the two last lines. It can sound like any other motivational speach, but for me it has a strong meaning. :)

I'm not really into Poetry because most of the times I don't understand the way it's written... it's hard for me to understand the meaning... but, indeed, as you wrote, these 2 lines are not THAT difficult to understand and yes, I agree, it inspires strength

Thanks for sharing, Herr Silver  8)

Quite interesting quotes, guys :) Here are some from me:

from teacher:I'll kick-out everyone from this room and I'll work with the rest!

said to student:"Because you are stupid I'll write you three 2" (lowest grade 2,highest 6)

quote from student essay on exam: "Abraham Lincoln was born in house, which he built himself"

I remember about one that has happened during university exam, but it's kind of inappropriate so i'll miss that one. :P

"Russian soldiers were passing through tight himalaian roads, through the Balkans"

Teacher:"Woah I improvised a whole lesson!!!I'm really smart!! Let's write it down somewhere"

"Earth consists of 2/3 water and 3/4 ground"

"Divide the board on four EQUAL parts and choose the BIGGEST one"

"Right now it's a bit dark, that's why you might not be able to hear me well"

We can judge our health by our happiness” - Dr E. Bach

Small explanation:
donno if some of you know Bach remedies ... he's a homoeopath who developed 38 (or 39 when counting Bach rescue to them) remedies to support the mental activities and helps you conquer fears, sadness, confusion, and such...
His vision which you can read above is to be found already in the mentality of the ancient people  "a healthy soul in a healthy body" ... when things are in balance nothing can really harm us.

I've been watching a series this weekend in the evenings and one sentence keeps on spinning in my head (the serie always starts with a quote from one of the characters which is uttered during that part)

"some things are exactly the way they seem and it is good that way"

Was für den Vogel die Kraft der Schwingen, das ist für den Menschen die Freundschaft; sie erhebt ihn über den Staub der Erde.

What the strength of the wings for the bird, that is the friendship for the human; they arise above the dust of the earth.

Quote
Wenn ein Mensch in der Liebe lebt, dann ist seine Schwingung erhöht, sein Bewusstsein verliert den Fokus auf das eigene Ego
=> When a human lives in love, his vibration raises, his conscious loses focus on its own ego.

In relation to that I'd like to quote part of Rilke's poem from Requiem for a friend here:

Quote
“Denn das ist Schuld, wenn irgendeines Schuld ist:
Die Freiheit eines Lieben nicht vermehren
um alle Freiheit, die man in sich aufbringt.
Wir haben, wo wir lieben, ja nur dies:
einander lassen; denn dass wir uns halten,
das fällt uns leicht und ist nicht erst zu lernen.”

=> For this is wrong, if anything is wrong: not to enlarge the freedom of a love with all the inner freedom one can summon. We need, in love, to practice only this: letting each other go. For holding on comes easily; we do not need to learn it.

Sorry, I'm ver boring & thoughtful this night!
I've come to a thought that the main problem that prevents us being happy is waste, unnecessary things that we run for and which don't allow us to see the main of life.
It's like going shopping and asking yourself - do i want to store this shit forever? Then why to waste my money, enegry to bring it, time for all that, cleaning the dust, and then utilize it etc.
May be i've become too minimalistic, but i only want main and important people & stuff in my life and nothing more.
This can be exampled by unnecessary & killing relationships you cannot let go & go on spending time on, or filming on concerts when you don't actually enjoy it except for filming is your real true hobby, or writing rubbish in your diary, keeping many different accounts you have to check every day - all excess stuff, unnecessary for you, piece by piece takes your time & moments you can enjoy.
Example 6, when i see my wardrobe is becoming too full, it's the sign to give something away to people who needs it and not to store this all forever )))
So why am i writing this? People around do what they don't want to do to get the things they don't need, always, and then claim they don't have the life & impressions they want, when they live some others' life trying to be cool and do what is said to bring you joy. But only a few try to be themselves and they are so rare understood! That's very sad.

mmm yes, I listened to an interview with a professor yesterday about depression in general but specially the growing depression with youth (in Belgium the suicide rate has been rising insanely high and each day there are people diagnosed with depression, burn-out or whatever) ... and he also repeated again "be yourself it's hard enough" and I think in a society like today it says it all...towns trying to be cities, cities trying to be countries, countries trying to be a world and humans...humans trying to be others because the grass always seems greener on the other side...and just because there seems to be such a big "must" in the world... must study because everyone does so, must built out a carreer because everyone does so, must do this cause then I get this and others have it as well... I decided "stop" last year, when I realised I was very unhappy feeling forced to go the same road and going with the flow isn't always the nicest and most challenging thing... and somehow felt like I wasn't doing what I did for myself because I wanted it anymore but for others, I put things on a row and decided that I'd finish for my bacheloryears but I'd end my schoollife there...which was the right decision to make even if finding a job is a hard task.
And what I consider people have it even harder with is accepting others the way they are and the decisions they make, and specially when they don't act or talk the way they expect them to... and so much energy gets wasted because we try to change others ... we don't do anyone a favor with it, not ourselves nor the others ... and life would be so much easier if we focus on living our own roads indeed instead of trying to live the road of others... it's hard enough to find our own one. And it's with only very few that I personally find this understanding and acceptance which I need and thanks to which I can call someone a friend... and of course we're individuals and have own opinions, so I think understanding and acceptance doesn't mean that we say yes and amen to everything but that we can find togetherness in differentiation... if you know what I mean?

it's so difficult to live in accordance with people's expectations especially when you are young and haven't yet done anything but being constantly pressured, i think that's mainly the fault of parents who try to grow themselves in their kids not allowing them to find their own way, which cause depressions and suicides. And people's judging, i think it's inapprorpiate to judge one's decisions (not talking about crime and etc, of course), unless you are asked to - no understanding and acceptance at all in this! I know many people wish only the best by this attitude but the price they are taking is very high.
Like you I also finished my course in the uni, grabbed the diploma and said farewell to such kind of studies forever because this is not mine at all - I hate it, no matter how many people said i bury my brain, i find it boring to death - but it's such a trend to get several diplomas here and i see many people rushing for them back to classes without any personal desire)))
There are more serious examples when girls got married only because they or their parents thought they had to and now want to turn back the time.
May be that's why, besides of the most beautiful music on the Earth, I love Lacrimosa so much, as it's concept is so independent and individual ))) In music you find not only music but also philosophy, you know )))

it's so difficult to live in accordance with people's expectations especially when you are young and haven't yet done anything but being constantly pressured, i think that's mainly the fault of parents who try to grow themselves in their kids not allowing them to find their own way, which cause depressions and suicides. And people's judging, i think it's inapprorpiate to judge one's decisions (not talking about crime and etc, of course), unless you are asked to - no understanding and acceptance at all in this! I know many people wish only the best by this attitude but the price they are taking is very high.

yeah, as a child you're not really aware of the pressure people put on you... I see that a lot now with the children in my family. And I know that eventhough I'm a rather free child, and my parents gave me a lot of chances to develop myself the way I wanted it, one of the reasons I'm now here with the wrong graduation, wrong studies behind me is partly because of the unspoken expectations... that you take a normal education and find a steady job if you can with three or four diplomas (that's also the case here ;))and five years of workexperience in your field at the end of your studies khem... and although the expectation still lives that I become a translator I don't want to exactly like you, I didn't really feel bored, I like to learn and am a very curious person, but this is just not how I wanna spend my time anymore. But this decision, believe me, cost a lot of courage ..cause explain your entire family that you have a chance to get a higher diploma and you're not taking it... all at once the diplomas you already have are worth nothing in their eyes, you're a quitter, someone who doesn't have the guts to fight for what he wants... but ... I don't want it :D That's also why I'm so happy that I'm taking these pianoclasses and probably will start singing classes in February because they're MY decisions and my parents stood there and watched me do it... they agree of course because they know by now that music is my life and all the rest is by the way and because it's a neccessity to be able to do music: finding a job, eat, sleep, take a shower :D but I know that music is something as essential as water to me to live because when I'm not able to play piano or guitar or sing for one week I feel very unhappy and sad... I had an interesting conversation with a friend in relation to this, because I said that I'm happy that I'm playing these painocourses also because now my life got a meaning again, a sense, ... and she said "yes, you have something you're good at, I'm still on the search for it" that's when I realised how happy I am that I got to know myself on that matter at least... that I know where my heart lays and where my passions are...there are indeed SO many people without being aware what their passions are, unable to live it by that and you know I don't even want to imagine my life when my parents would have furtheron forbidden me to start a classical education at the academy...

And agreed, in music, you find a world on its own and what I think is that when nobody understands you... you just listen to music and feel understanding.

it was in a way uncomfy because I knew this decision would both set me freeand create troubles with family...but I also realised for the first time that those who truly love you support you even when you make a decision they can't understand or go into their expectations.Just like I did those auditions for the singing contest in order to make the same people clear I'm serious when I say if I see the chance I'll go further with music.

I think also that a lot probably know what their passion is but somehow don't dare living them out of fear what others might think or say...and what I find so ridiculous is...is that we all know this and none does something against...hence why I'm thinking now how I can help my niece...she's going in my footsteps learning guitar and now wants to sing but...she gets hardly response to that wish from the family so I'll see what I can do from my side to help her. I think it's only fair after finding my own despair because of not having had that help and support (when it was crucial) myself.

Maybe also a lot don't dare to admit they have a passion and a talent? That friend I spoke with by the way is very good at drawing and loves doing it...I told her and by that she realised that indeed she has such a passion herself...because she said"I'm jealous at your voice" and I was lke don't cause we all received our gift by which we're able to touch people's soul...I apparently got my voice...others can play guitar that gives shivers down your spine the other plays piano that moves you to tars or makes pictures that make you feel warm inside just like others might create dishes that give you a happy satisfaction...you just gotta find the thing that delivers you utmost happiness where you feel like if I die doing this I'll die happy... With her it was obvious painting but she had minimalised it so much for herself because she felt like...I'm an amateur I have no right to call it my gift ans passion.I was happy that she realised she's really good and to my opinion even better than some profis.

Well, I think it is very true and wise. Unfortunatly this simple wisdom is impossible to learn from other people or books, but just from personal experience. So...  we spend a ton of energy, time and life on nonsense.

That's a talent too when you can wrap your thoughts in words! I have admit it works slow with me  :D
Talking about kids desires i must thank my mother who didn't pressure me when i refused to go on dancing in several schools because they didn't let me dance in my way and used to beat me, but she supported me when i pulled her hand to go enroll me in music school for learning to play violin where i bravely went through the auditions which were even more strict than those ballet teachers - this shows i really wanted to spend my childhood this way no matter what ))) But i still regret that, when my teacher emigrated to Germany, i had to change the instrument because the only other teacher has psychic problems and my parents persuaded me not to take her classes. This is how i learned the instrument i didn't want to learn as much as violin, but the new teacher gave me so much in music understanding, she is a very kind person i still remember with tenderness ))) so i wanted to say sometimes the choice is hard and you cannot say what is better for you - may be i would have left the music forever after a couple of months with a nervous woman - who knows! But the new teacher - if not given me the knowledge of violin - helped me to understand that i want to play, learn & create for myself and my soul, no academies and teacher/orchestra career available for folk musicians as a start of everything ))) You just can't predict will it be your work or not, will you like some other business more (like at the moment i love what i do/did for a living), i believe you cannot consider music as a business from the very beginning, you just can let it be business when it asks you "hey, i'm bringing you some money!" ;D But once you realize it's your life - that's so majestic! So it's important to find & grow your main idea as earlier as possible, like your niece - she needs someone to support her definitely in what she likes to try! It will bring her confidence ))) you are right everyone has a talent and it's a pity so few of us believe in themselves (((

@Tajj that's quite easy to explain - our mass media makes us believe this nonsense is necessary for us and feeds us with shit ))) I just can't listen to those radios & TV's except for thematic programs i want to watch/listen to ))) no economy wants thinking people who realize how few things we need for being complete )))  ;)

Oh, doesn't always work that well :D hehehe and sometimes it's even confronting because in a conversation it can turn out that I stare when I'm thinking over the topic discussed, still listening and understanding what's been said but apparently I often give the impression then of not listening/understanding :D weird situations happen this way hahaha :D ... but I'm happy that from time to time I start writing and ideas keep coming :) though sometimes it's frustrating, because some things can't be put in words no matter how hard you try and I always fear, people might not understand then... mmm :D

uh... yes... :D it's really cool when parents support their children in creative processes... I think in a way it can even keep them on the right track. I still regret for example that I was never allowed to play tennis, it was a very very big wish of mine when I was like 10... I kept writing it on papers and left it on my parents pillows 'please, let me play tennis, please', on their bedroomdoor, on the kitchendoor, everywhere, I asked them thousand times a day... but was never allowed and got on their nerves so they were angry with me. The more I'm grateful that they had allowed me a year before to go to the music school though originally I also wanted to play violin ;) (that or drums) but I wasn't allowed either of them...so I picked the guitar, because it was the cheapest and we didn't have place for piano at that time. But it's funny how you describe that :D I really saw you walking on your mom's hand to the academy :D hihihi ... you play violin as well? I never knew that I think :) that's really cool! I remember my sis did a year as well and at that time I went over for a weekend to her and I was like 7 I think and she had a violin at home of course for practising and I nagged so much to play it hahah that they in the end let me but locked me up in a separate room for it hahaha to spare their ears ... but actually I started much earlier now I recall, my mom used to clean the house of friends (they were both carreer people very busy and never at home) and their daughter played piano so when my mom was cleaning there she allowed me to play her piano. Hehehe you see it's always been in my blood...I was 5 year back then hahaha :D It's always obvious in a way, what belongs to your life or? :)

And as for pressuring children...same niece is forced by her father (parents are divorced) to stay in a youth club, she actually really dislikes and would more like to take an extra instrument on the music academy instead but now she can't because she has a limitation to what she's allowed to do on outside-school activities. I think it's wrong... I mean children should be clear that they can't quit something after the first time they tried it, but she did it the past 4 years!

Quote
But i still regret that, when my teacher emigrated to Germany, i had to change the instrument because the only other teacher has psychic problems and my parents persuaded me not to take her classes.

oh O.o but when she was allowed to teach, I suppose it were ok? mmm anyway :D

Quote
This is how i learned the instrument i didn't want to learn as much as violin, but the new teacher gave me so much in music understanding, she is a very kind person i still remember with tenderness )))

That's worth a lot indeed :) meaning a teacher who doesn't only focus on techniques but also on musicality and emotion and how to transport things are like true mentors :) I had one like that myself ... actually two cause one of the bandmembers I participated with the past half a year also thought me valuable tricks but well his ego stood our further cooperation in the way.

Quote
so i wanted to say sometimes the choice is hard and you cannot say what is better for you - may be i would have left the music forever after a couple of months with a nervous woman - who knows! That's true, the value and the outcome of choices are only noticable afterwards... and I think there aren't really wrong choices ... eventhough now I'm feeling I have but I know that everything has a reason and so will have had my choices back then as well...without the ones I made I would have probably never found out how important music is to me. And I think, music is in that way not "teachable" I mean people can learn you how to read notes, how to distinct instruments in a song, how to interpret music ... but music in its real sense is part of you and you either let it in or not and nobody can teach you that but I'm really convinced of the fact that in one everyone is able to it. That's also why I'm sometimes happy that I made the choices I made and didn't go to conservatory because... there music really becomes copying and learn-able from a book, which doesn't really lays in the line with how I feel music.

Quote
i believe you cannot consider music as a business from the very beginning, you just can let it be business when it asks you "hey, i'm bringing you some money!" ;D

I don't think one can every call it business... I think from the moment it would become "mere business" to me I'd die from sadness. I know earning money from it automatically turns it into a business but ... yeah hard to explain, but I think you can feel me on that matter :D I remember that in may I played some songs together with my boy for the opening of a photo-exhibition and we were payed for it ... people saw it as if I was working, but I wasn't to my opinion, I was just living and doing something with my full concentration...and I read this today in an interview and I thought it was very true "doing something with your full concentration makes you happy" :)

Quote
But once you realize it's your life - that's so majestic!

Yes, true... and sometimes I find it sad when I'm not able to life it non-stop...but otherwise I also realise it doesn't become less my life when I'm doing something so I'll also be able to live it in the future... like job and such (when I find one that is hahaha) ... but it is powerful and magical when you find some part of yourself this way :)

And today, when reading around the internet I found this quote and I think I'm gonna contact the lady because she shared some visions that lay very close to mine and it's always interesting to exchange some thoughts with people who have such inspiring words in them...I wanna hear them all :D

Quote
The conceptions of how and what you are allowed to love is related to fear. Many are afraid of real love.

She was talking about unconditional love, of how you can love many, without boundaries, without limitations, without labels ... and how it often confuses us (and thus fears us) because of the way we learned to love and that for centuries and generations on generations, and how we feel like it's not ok to feel this deep love towards "just a friend" for example. Whereas unconditional love is actually so easy. But society, our cultures, our believes has given it so many connotations and also connected so many ugly things to it... how many people confuse love with possession? Why would someone belong to you just because you love him/her? or "best" ... like in best friend, where people interpret the biggest love among all friends you have is present, I never really understood that word because I mean you have good friends, I understand that, whom you're closer to than other friends; mostly with me I talk about good friends when they're very close to me on soullevel, same wave you could say ... but best friend can actually only be one and what would make one person stand out to all the rest? And I find it so denigrating to all other friends who're also true to you and good to you and with whom you can have an equal strong bound. And moreover; EVERY friendship is different as we're all individuals. And what I find important and what defines real love to me is the capability to set free, to let someone go his/her own ways even if they turn away from you... I have such friends who're not able to and strangle me each time where they feel like there's distance growing due to we both living our ways ... but as I always say, what love binds nothing can break and I wouldn't say this if I wouldn't have experienced this several times :) but then we talk about this true love, this unconditional love. Just wanted to share this as I know this might play with some of the people reading here :)

I was just 10 and passed only 2-year program during 1 year i was given, and i hadn't owned an instrument, just a school violin for the period of studies. Small violin for kids was pretty expensive at that time and my parents didn't buy it for me as i had to quit lessons ((( so i never tried again and not sure whether i remember anything ))) but still remember how to hold it at last and how to so make a good sound in ensemble with piano, as those lessons were pretty tough, but i remember the joy i got after the hard work and every success! The man who was playing the piano was a very wise, experienced in bands & orchestras, not only teacher and talented man with huge patience and what he told be for those last months so much that i brought through all my further studies! He had also moved abroad that year, to Russia as far as i know, to go on tours with some band or orchestra. I haven't yet made up my mind but i want to try violin again, it was very hard to quit and for many years i couldn't think about it ))) now i may try, who knows!  ::)

that woman was known for very nervous & unstable psychics & had a beating methods of teaching, but she studied in a concervatory & travelled with a chamber orchestra around the whole Europe. She played really well but my family discussed her teaching skills & concluded she won't make me a good person at the end because i was kind of over excited child and needed tender attitude. I think they were right! None of her students played well, i haven't heard any good violin performance at any shows since then. Who will have a desire to play when your fingers are being beated with a bow?  ??? I just can't get this cruelty in teaching ((( My teacher never ever lifted her voice at my numerous mistakes i was obviously making, and the result was surprising for me!  ???

Ah, sad ... but you can :) I mean pick up and try to built on ... I don't think you easily forget instruments. I didn't play guitar for a long long time after I bought my piano, I mean not in the way I used to play her :D and this year in May I had to play two classical pieces and in NO time they were back and even better than I had played them in the academy, only not in front of the audience *sighs* So I def. think that you could pick up there :) Is it that expensive a violin? I have no idea what it costs, I know here from piano and guitars because those are the areas...oh wait I don't think they sell violins at the shop I go....:s would be weird. They have guitar, drum and piano, microphone, but I never saw any other instruments now that you say :s ... so no I don't have an idea what it costs. But well, some dreams don't have to stay dreams :)

ah, I understand...I sometimes forget the history of your country :(  And I don't understand that neither, how they could do that in the past, my mom told me stories from her childhood as well where even in regular schools they were beaten on their hands when writing mistakes, because they believed it was the only way you'd learn from your mistakes... how primitive and it hurts my soul that people really reasoned that way in the past. I had a teacher for guitar like yours as well, she was so so so patient even when there was a time I never practised and so I had to read unknown pieces at sight, but I was good at reading at sight :D so it wasn't really a punishment to me... but she never got angry she just patiently said I should practice a bit at home...and then the period passed and I practiced very hard and she often told me I should continue with that, even now she often asks me how I'm doing she has my phonenumber :) it's wonderful to have such teachers which are at the same time mentors like you said about the pianoteacher as well :) But I know from my boy's mother that there are other teachers, the one from singing for example (that's why I won't take singing classes in my town) denigrates people a lot and if there's one thing you should never do with someone who's singing (to anyone in general, but singing people even more to my opinion) is denigrating them in front of others. so yeah then I can understand your parents, even if it was with pain in your heart back then... everything has a reason :)

Is it that expensive a violin? I have no idea what it costs

I'm not really sure how much it costs now, but now it's much more affordable ))) haha, we have an instruments shop which sells standard rock instruments, but recently i went to buy strings there and there was an old German accordeon which costed 200000 RUR (eum, about 7000 USD), the guy said it's on commission, so sometimes something like this appears on market )))

But I know from my boy's mother that there are other teachers, the one from singing for example (that's why I won't take singing classes in my town) denigrates people a lot

i had the same choir teacher, she had private problems in her family and she always brought that to the school! we were patient but we were a bad choir at the end ))) again - we had a good teacher before and she emigrated to Russia, and she could teach singing ANYONE ((( choir was obligatory class and mostly boys were not ready for it, i think she used some magic! ;D

Haha Olya, is that a quote of yourself? :P

My own quote is of Bowie : "We can be heroes, just for one day, we can be us, just for one day".
The only thing is, why for one day? I don't want it to be for only one day, actually, i disagree with Bowie! Why did he add that line i wonder...

no, that's more a thought than a quote)))
what about D.Bowie, I suppose he wanted to highlight the importance of today, since past doesn't exist already and future doesn't exist yet? that everything changes and tomorrow todays state can die

That this is a terrifying world... Well, what can we expect of Kafka? What draws my attention is the use of the 2nd person in the translation. It makes the quote more terrifying than the german original, which (if I'm not making a mistake) is more impersonal...

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

William Shakespeare, Sonnet 116

For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one’s dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself.

“The one thing you can’t take away from me is the way I choose to respond to what you do to me. The last of one’s freedoms is to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance.”
― Viktor E. Frankl

“Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.”
― Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

“No man should judge unless he asks himself in absolute honesty whether in a similar situation he might not have done the same.”
― Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

“Love goes very far beyond the physical person of the beloved. It finds its deepest meaning in its spiritual being, his inner self. Whether or not he is actually present, whether or not he is still alive at all, ceases somehow to be of importance.”
― Viktor E. Frankl

Part of the process of growing up is figuring out who we are anyway, right? It’s hard even when you don’t belong to an oppressed group! This is that HUMAN PART where we share human experiences. Developing self-esteem, using your big girl/boy voice, learning to be yourself is all hard and a process! Letting go of “what people think” is a challenge in and of itself, hopefully to be won by age 30ish. Well, we try. Maybe 40ish. Being authentic, whatever that means to you, is the true personal road to freedom. So for those who are a little different… learning to deal with the eye rolls, the fear in others’ eyes, the ignoring from others…all of that personal stress, that is what makes you stronger!

"... Am I alive? the small voice asked itself. What is, you know by what is not; for as Augustine says, 'We have some knowledge of the darkness and silence, of the former only by the eyes, by the latter only through the ears; nevertheless we have no sensation, only the privation of sensation'. In the realm of Taut, the underworld of the Egyptians, there were twelve divisions; one of the twelve was guarded by a serpent with four legs and a human face. Here the darkness was so thick that it might be felt; but this is almost the only instance we have. When we say the night has a velvet darkness, we romance. When we say the soul is black, we are turning a phrase." - Hilary Mantel Fludd

So what is it we call a sensation?..

the comparison of a glass of water to problems from a teacher in Philosophy

"the absolute weight of the glass of water doesn't matter, it depends on how long I hold it which creates the problem. When I hold a glass of water for a minute it won't be any issue, when I hold it an hour I might already feel it in my arm, when I keep it the entire day I might actually feel hurt in my arm. The longer I hold it the heavier it'll be to hold it.  Troubles work the same way, when you think of it for a minute it's no problem, but the longer you think of it the more hurt you'll feel... if you think of it the entire day it will bring me into an emotional state of coma and I won't be able to take action either way. So it's important to let go off troubles as soon as you can: accept the situation as it is whether you can take action right away or only in future focus on what is possible in the NOW and let go of all the rest ... in other words: don't forget to put down the glass of water from time to time."

When you stop blaming other people for your pain and take full responsibility no matter what the cause of hurt is, you gain the absolute power over your own life, your own thoughts and your own emotions - wayne dyer.

=> as long as you blame people for how you feel (because of things they said or things they did) you give them power over you... where in fact what they say/do and how you decide to think about it (and accordingly feel) and react to it are two separate states... one belongs to your partner, one belongs to yourself... keep to yourself what belongs to yourself and leave what's from the other with the other. In other words if one explodes towards you give them the right to do so, but don't take it in... how he deals with anger is his full responsibility... as it is your very own when you yourself explode in anger.

Quote
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

O, Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love; For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; it is in dying that we are born again to eternal life.

Coldness spells the end of any relationship. If you want to kill something, just be cold to it. As soon as one becomes frozen in feeling, thinking, or action, relationship is not possible. When humans want to abandon something in themselves or leave someone else out in the cold, they ignore them, disinvite them, leave them out, go out of their way to have to even hear their voice or lay eyes upon them.
