TILO WOLFF: We are thinking of a compilation DVD featuring all clips that we've done so far. But when and how we are going to release it, we didn't decide yet.

Dear Tilo & Anne: I hope you're very well and... All your albums have a title of a single word, Can only one word enclose all the meaning and feelings which the album have? or Why do you called each album with a word? With love: Alejandro Cruz
TILO WOLFF: As mentioned in the beginning, we unfortunately only can answer one question each! So please don't be disappointed that we can't answer the nineteen other questions you sent us… but I can assure you, many of your questions will be answered in the following interview. Now I want to answer that question of yours, that wasn't asked before: I believe, one word expresses sometimes and in this particular connection much more than a few words or even a whole sentence because the more words are used, the smaller the range of their content gets as well as each word stands in relation to the following and the one in front and that is why this relation needs explanations and can easily lead to misinterpretations while one word alone leads the way and puts a light on a certain theme and topic while the music guides the way into it.

Hello Lacrimosa my question is referring to the videos and the songs that have removed and themselves do not know here in Mexico, among them are the song Promised Land and Gimme somethin' to believe in, also the videos Durch Nacht und Flut and the video Alleine zu zweit, that precious music and image the fanz Mexican do not we have the luck to know them, we will be able some day to know them, to listen them, and to feel the vitality Of those songs and those videos.
TILO WOLFF: Yes! A songs like "Promised land" was a bonus tracks for the Japanese releases of "Fassade" just like "Road to pain" was exclusively only for the release of the Mexican Version of "Echos"! The clips from "Durch nacht und Flut" and "Alleine zu zweit" aren't released anywhere yet, but they were shown on TV also in Mexico and soon or later, all of these songs and videos will be released all over the world unlike to "Gimme something to believe in" which is no Lacrimosa song as I only wrote the music but didn't write the lyric. This title was for a project of a german author many years ago!

Hi Tilo! My name is Alena,to me 27 years and i live in Ukraine. About "Lacrimosa" i have heard one year ago and now i already have all your albums. I was struck at once with your music! How to transfer unusual state? Your music, your voice-it all bewitched. It was that always intuitively sounded in me and here has suddenly found the form in musical processing. I cannot allocate at all any certain ,especially liked album. All of them has been written at various times and all of them differ from each other, but all that is in your creativity finds reflection in my essence. I like all that you do and as you do. To me interestingly everything that is connected to your creativity. But I shall not ask now to you. I simply love your music and to tell the truth have only taken advantage of a case to tell you about it, hoping, that you will read it. Good Evening, Mr.Wolff & Mrs.Nurmi! First of all, I would like to thank you for your great idea to ask your fans of what they a interested in a direct way. To be honest, now and then one can find such interviews with Lacrimosa that could be a compilation at best, if only they are not thought up completely. And of course, I would like to thank you for you enchanting music and creative work generally. So happened, that it so tightly entwined with my own personal life and influenced my interest, that I can't say that I loved Lacrimosa, I grew up with it. It's so strange, isn't it? On "Der Ketzer" one can hear female vocal. Whom it belongs and why her name is absent on the booklet? So, I hope, I haven't bothered you too much, thank you one more time, and good-bye! Be happy! TILO WOLFF: I know that there are pretty much bootlegs around in Russia, which is also why we have no idea of our audience in Russia and how many people listen to Lacrimosa in Russia after all. Anyway, in the booklet of the official CD "Angst", which is in Russia a double-CD called "Einsamkeit/Angst", the name of this female singer is mentioned. The voice belongs to Judith Grüning, and she is one of the female singers I sometimes mentioned in interviews, while telling how flattered I was on my search for a female voice for Lacrimosa, to hear Anne Nurmi performing on stage, as she fulfilled the musical requests that I was looking for.

sehr geehrter tilo wolff, sehr geehrte anne nurmi, als erstes möchte ich mich dafür bedanken, dass sie jedem lacrimosafan oder -nichtfan die chance geben, ihnen einige fragen zu stellen, die davor noch nie gestellt wurden. es gibt wahrhaftig nicht viele bands, die so eine enge freundschaft mit ihren fans pflege. ich habe nicht vor, irgendwie irgendwelche privaten fragen zu stellen. man findet über den lebenslauf von tilo wolff oder anne nurmi so gut wie gar nichts, das hat auch bestimmt seine gründe. mit würde allerdings eine private frage interessieren, und zwar, welche instrumente tilo und anne spielen können und welche sie vorallem auch richtig gelernt haben. dann gibts da noch etwas, was ich gern wissen möchte: ich finde den titelkatalog auf lacrimosa.de total genial. allerdings würde mich mal eines interessieren: welches album ist wievielen ländern erschienen? von echos gibts über 10 importe, die allesamt verschieden sind, oder? warum gibt es keine gleichen alben, die alle gleich sind? gerade die überteuren japan-importe nerven. nochmal einen großen dank an lacrimosa und an alle, die das möglich gemacht haben. dann wünsche ich ihnen noch schöne tage und ein tolles fragenbeantworten!

ANNE NURMI: Ich habe als Kind gelernt, Orgel zu spielen und später bei Two Witches habe ich Keyboard gespielt. Tilo hat als Kind Trompete und Flügelhorn gelernt und sich später das Klavierspiel selbst beigebracht.
TILO WOLFF: Ich möchte gerne ein paar Worte zu Deiner Frage die Lizenzveröffentlichungen betreffend loswerden: Da Hall Of Sermon ein Independentlabel ist, das keine weltweiten Niederlassungen und Vertriebsstrukturen hat, wie das bei den meisten Majorfirmen der Fall ist, lizenzieren wir unsere Tonträger in Ländern, die wir von der Schweiz aus nicht betreuen können, an örtliche Plattenfirmen, die in ihrem jeweiligen Territorium die Tonträger herstellen und vertreiben. Da es nun immer wieder zu Importen aus anderen Ländern kommt, so wie man zum Beispiel in Deutschland hier und da einen japanischen Import bekommen kann, müssen sich gewisse Lizenznehmer mit den eigenen Editionen vor solchen Importen abgrenzen und schützen und verändern somit nach Absprache mit uns das Layout oder fragen nach exklusiven Titeln für ihre Editionen.

Wann kommt Ihr wieder auf Tour?
TILO WOLFF: Spätestens zum nächsten Album, vielleicht wird es aber auch schon früher vereinzelte Auftritte geben, was jedoch noch nicht feststeht. Hier auf www.lacrimosa.de seid Ihr aber die ersten, die erfahren, wann und wo wir die nächsten Konzerte spielen werden, und solange hier nichts zu lesen ist, sind keine Konzerte geplant, also bitte hört erst gar nicht auf die Gerüchte angeblicher Konzerte.
Alexander Streese:
Hallo Tilo und Anne, Ihr habt doch sicherlich einige oder viele Songs aufgenommen die noch nie richtig fertig gestellt wurden, noch keine Studioqualität haben oder noch nie auf irgendeiner CD veröffentlicht wurden!? Habt ihr mal vor so eine art "Secret" CD oder ähnliches zu veröffentlichen??? Ich würde mich dalür sehr interessieren!

TILO WOLFF: Es gibt zwar keine unfertigen Titel, die in einer Schublade auf Vollendung hoffen, aber dafür gibt es einige fertig produzierte aber bislang unveröffentlichte Titel sowie ein paar wenige interessante Demos, die von der endgültigen Version abweichen, weil ich zum Beispiel während den Aufnahmen noch einmal neue Arrangements geschrieben habe. Irgendwann werden wir diese Schublade aufmachen und diese Titel veröffentlichen!

TILO WOLFF: Quite a dream you had there and it sounds to me like you seam to see in me a threat to you and your believe since I am a Christian and you are an Islamic listening and liking my music. And believe me, I don't want to cause you or anybody problems like that with my music, so please, Alireza, don't tear yourself apart! I think you only can find a solution if you whether stop listening to Lacrimosa or if you find out, if it is a sin in your religion to listen to the music from another culture.
Andre:
Also Hail Anne and Tillo, the theme of vampires interest you? Is any relation with more songs of Lacrimosa with vampires?
TILO WOLFF: I don't think so. We both like vampire stories as to be read later in this interview but we only write songs about our emotions, our lives and our surroundings and don't search for inspiration in the outside world.

Hi Anne, Hi Tilo! Nun, hier bin ich! Ich hätte eine sehr wichtige Frage. Ich weiß, dass diese schon ziemlich voreilig ist, aber ihr habt ja alle Zeit der Welt um diese zu beantworten. Da ich leider noch nicht das ausserordentliche Vergnügen hatte, euch einmal "live" zu betrachten, muss [naja eigentlich e nicht "Muss" :-)] ich euch die Frage stellen, ob ihr mal nach Wien kommt, wenn ihr mal wieder tourt!? Und wann das ungefähr sein wird...! So, ich hoffe dass ist keine allzu schwierige Frage! :-/ [wär doch sonst schade um die Zeit!] :) Es grüßt euch lieblich: Andrea
TILO WOLFF: Auf unserer nächsten Tour werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder in Wien auftreten, allerdings kann ich Dir derzeit noch nicht sagen, wann diese Tour stattfinden wird, da wir zuerst unser neues Album aufnehmen werden.
Andreas Vogt:
Wie geht ihr mit dem Vorwurf um, dass Lacrimosa in den letzten Jahren kommerziell geworden ist?
TILO WOLFF: Derjenige, der solches sagt, scheint ein paar Dinge zu verwechseln... zunächst ist alles als kommerziell zu bezeichnen, was nicht kostenlos an den Verbraucher abgegeben wird. Somit war Lacrimosa schon immer kommerziell, wie so ziemlich jede andere Band dieser Erde, die etwas veröffentlicht hat. Im Weiteren definiert sich Kommerz durch eine lukrative Ausrichtung. Das heißt, je größer die Gewinnspanne ist, desto kommerzieller ist ein Produkt. Nun haben aber zum Beispiel Alben wie "Echos" oder "Elodia" zwanzigmal mehr gekostet, als Alben wie "Angst" und "Einsamkeit", jedoch haben sie bei weitem nicht das Zwanzigfache als jene billigeren Produktionen verkauft. Welches sind nun die kommerzielleren Alben Lacrimosas?

TILO WOLFF: Yes, the titles that were first only released in one country we will release after some time worldwide as we did for example with the title "Und du fällst" that first was released in Japan only and later followed worldwide on the CDS "Durch Nacht und Flut".

Wie soll man eine Mail beginnen, ohne zu wissen, wer diese bekommt? Wie soll man die Anrede gestalten? Eigentlich egal, .... von daher möchte ich folgend beginnen: Hallo Du, ja genau Du! Du, der mich gerade in diesem Moment beginnt zu lesen. Ich weiß nicht wer dies ließt oder ob es überhaupt jemand ließt... aber ich schreibe dennoch, denn man kann ja nicht mehr als verlieren...
TILO WOLFF: Den weiteren Inhalt Deiner Mail haben wir nicht veröffentlicht, da er wohl kaum für die Öffentlichkeit gedacht war und keine Frage enthielt, allerdings möchte ich Dir an dieser Stelle sagen, dass Du nicht so misstrauisch sein musst! Ihr schickt Fragen und wir lesen und beantworten sie! So einfach ist das... bei Lacrimosa gibt es kein Management oder ähnliches, das zwischen Musikern und Publikum steht!

Hallo! Zuerst möchte ich Danke sagen für die Chance Fragen stellen zu dürfen. Lebt das Projekt "Buch" zur Zeit, oder wird es noch länger schlafen?
TILO WOLFF: Dieses Projekt schläft ziemlich tief... man könnte auch tot sagen. Zumindest, was meine Initiative anbelangt. Ich habe beim Schreiben der ersten Kapitel festgestellt, dass ich lieber in die Zukunft als in die Vergangenheit sehe, will sagen, lieber schreibe ich neue Songs, als darüber zu schreiben, wie ich alte Songs geschrieben habe.

Hello! I'm a 14 years old fan of yours, from Transylvania, Romania. On October the 2nd I'll be 15, so if you answer my question, that would be a perfect birthday present for me. You're the best!! I'd only like to know, what your opinion is about Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne or Cradle of Filth. These are other bands that I listen to, and of course that's nothing similar to your style, so I wonder what you think about them. Thank you! Attila Bojtor
TILO WOLFF: Well, Black Sabbath is for sure one of the most important band for the development of the entire rock and metal movement up to now! About Ozzy as an solo artist and about Cradle I can say that I'm thankful for those people entertaining the world with their work!

Schöne Idee mit den Fragen... Mich würde u.a. interessieren,von welchen Musikern sich Lacrimosa haben inspirieren lassen. Gibt es Vorbilder oder Musiker, mit denen Lacrimosa gerne mal auf der Bühne spielen möchten? ?Engelzfreund?
TILO WOLFF: Das schöne ist ja, dass es so viele Menschen gibt, die der Welt ihre Musik anbieten und - wenn man möchte - kann man sich pausenlos von deren Musik unterhalten, bewegen, inspirieren und verzaubern lassen. Zwei Takte eines Titels können alleine ausreichen, um mich zu faszinieren und mich zu inspirieren... aber ich nehme an, dass ist Dir nun doch zu theoretisch und Du willst Namen hören... sicher zählt W. A. Mozarts Musik zu meinen grossen Inspirationen, auch David Bowie kann in diesem Zusammenhang erwähnt werden, so wie Baushaus, Joy Division, Pink Floyd und ganz wichtig zu erwähnen sind die ersten drei Alben von Hazel O'Connor aus den frühen Achtzigern.

Du übst in Interwiews viel Kritik an der Gesellschaft.Was würdest du vordringlich verändern wollen,wenn du könntest? Dankeschön schon mal im Vorraus für die Antworten,ich bin sehr gespannt.
TILO WOLFF: Ich bin der Meinung, die Werte unserer westlichen Gesellschaft lassen sich mit den inneren Bedürfnissen des Menschen nicht vereinbaren, gleich dem Versucht, einen Kreis in ein Viereck einzupassen. Weder kann diese Gesellschaft die Bedürfnisse des Menschen befriedigen noch die aus diesem Defizit erwachsenden Nöte stillen. Statt dessen wird der Mensch mittels der Medien als zeitgemässe Umsetzung der altbewährten Tradition von Brot und Spielen ruhig gestellt und gleichzeitig in die Menge eingepasst, die somit bewegt und deshalb kontrollierbar gehalten wird. Ich denke dabei nicht an eine Organisation oder eine niederträchtige Regierung, die sämtliche Fäden zieht. Nein, alleine der Zeitgeist regiert, der aus den in unserer Gesellschaft für heilig erklärten Wertvorstellungen erwächst! Ich meine, wir leben in einer Welt, in der es normal geworden ist, sich den Busen vergrössern zu lassen... was gibt es dazu noch zu sagen? Kann die Welt noch oberflächlicher werden? Hingegen beinhaltet das simple Gebot Jesu, dass man zwar oft gehört aber selten in ganzer Konsequenz beleuchtet hat, alles, was es zu diesem Thema und zu einem friedlichen Miteinander zu sagen gibt: "Liebe Deinen Herr über alles und Deinen Nächsten wie Dich selbst". Nun könnte man einwenden: wie soll ich meinen Nächsten lieben, wenn ich mich selbst nicht lieben kann? Allerdings ist Selbsthass eine Folge eines grossen Liebesdefizits, welchen man nicht erleiden müsste, wäre man von Anbeginn und immer entsprechend geliebt worden.

Carolina Gonzalez Medina:
Who invented the lacrimosa logo {the clown}?
TILO WOLFF: From the very beginning I had the feeling my music should also be visual interpreted and recognizable since music can't be seen but only heard. I drew several sketches and since I am a big fan of the artistic and musical work of Charlie Chaplin I finally came to the idea of the entertaining clown with a laughing and a crying, that expresses my music the best, only that I didn't want to stretch this cliché and therefore didn't use a tear or anything like that! Stelio Diamantopoulos finally drew the final logo as well as he transforms our ideas into the cover-painting of our albums.

When can we see you in concert again?
TILO WOLFF: Latest for the next album but maybe there will be sporadic concerts even earlier, which is not sure yet. Here on www.lacrimosa.com you always will be informed about new concert activities first and as long as we don't announce any concerts here, there are none planed! So please don't listen to the rumours telling about alleged concerts!

TILO WOLFF: Well, I hope you weren't too disappointed about us writing new songs… but we will come back to Mexico City on our next tour that will take place, after having the new songs recorded.

Hello Tilo and Anne! What is your favorite book,the book that shocked you in somehow,the book that changed your life in someway from that moment?
TILO WOLFF: I would say the book "Das Schloss" ("The Castle") by Franz Kafka, but actually the whole work of Kafka influenced, shocked, healed and enchanted me! ANNE NURMI: I rather take the time to listen to music.

Hi, mich würde mal interessieren ob und wann das eigene Label "Hall of Sermon" mal wiederbelebt werden soll so daß dort auch wieder andere Künstler unter Vertrag genommen werden können. Ich kann zwar verstehen wenn Tilo sagt, die beiden möchten sich mehr auf ihre Arbeit bei Lacrimosa konzentrieren, aber das Label kann doch genauso gut jemand anderes in ihrem Namen führen, oder nicht? Schließlich erledigen die beiden die anfallenden Arbeiten im Hall of Sermon Shop doch auch nicht allein. MfG, Crys
TILO WOLFF: Bei der
Führung eines Labels geht es in erster Linie um eine Ideologie, die man
verfolgen möchte. Jene von Hall Of Sermon lautete, a) dass unsere Bands
die gleichen künstlerischen Freiheiten eingeräumt bekommen, die wir
uns selbst bei Lacrimosa zugestehen, und wegen derer ich damals Hall Of Sermon
überhaupt erst gegründet habe, und b) dass Musiker mit Musikern und
nicht Businessleute mit Musikern arbeiten, da oftmals Labelmitarbeiter keine
Ahnung von der Praxis eines Musikeralltags im Studio oder auf Tour haben und
nur höchstens aus Erzählungen wissen, worauf es im Detail zu achten
gilt. Somit liegt auf der Hand, dass Hall Of Sermon nicht von anderen Personen
geleitet werden kann, da es sich dann lediglich um ein Label wie jedes Andere
handeln würde. Im Weiteren ist zu sagen, dass Hall Of Sermon sehr wohl
aktiv ist, denn ohne Hall Of Sermon gäbe es Lacrimosa in dieser Form
nicht. Lacrimosa steht nach wie vor bei Hall Of Sermon unter Vertrag und Hall
Of Sermon hat alle bisher erhältlichen Alben Lacrimosas, angefangen von
"Angst" bis hin zu "Echos", veröffentlicht, respektive diese in
verschiedenen Ländern an Partnerlabel lizenziert. Zuletzt kann ich an
dieser Stelle erzählen, dass ich derzeit eine Band auf dem Tisch habe, die
mir äusserst gut gefällt und die ich eventuell für Hall Of
